Transition Program

The LDACNY Transition Program is a hands-on, individualized program that provides critical information, skills and tools to college bound students with learning disabilities or attention deficit disorder, helping them to make a successful transition from high school to college.  Each participant will leave with their very own portfolio of information compiled over a 4- part program that includes vital information about:

  • Differences in services between high school and college;

  • Rights and responsibilities of the student and the institution;

  • Confidentiality – when and how to disclose their disability;

  • Self assessment;

  • Compensatory tools and areas of disability;

  • Composing a personal statement focusing on strengths;

  • Reasonable accommodations;

  • Effective and appropriate ways to access services;

  • Study strategies and time management

If you are a parent interested in empowering your child by helping them to learn the best advocacy skills they can, this program is for you!  The information, tools and skills gained in this program will not only help your son or daughter transition smoothly and thrive at the college level – they are life long skills necessary for success in any work place atmosphere.

Don’t miss this last, yet very often forgotten step before moving on to college.  Give your child the gift of empowerment!
