Life Skills

During this school year Learning Disabilities Association of Central New York began participating in the Life Skills program that takes place within the four Syracuse City high schools. This is LDACNYs first year participating in the program and we are pleased to be working with other area agencies, Syracuse Cooperative Federal Credit Union, and Syracuse City School District. The Life Skills program is an opportunity for the Learning Disabilities Association of Central New York to assist high school students with the daunting task of transitioning from high school to the work environment. The material that the Learning Disabilities Association of Central New York will concentrate on will equip students with the tools and knowledge necessary to succeed in the work place.

LDACNY recently received a grant from the John Ben Snow Foundation in support of the Life Skills program for the 2008-2009 school year. We have been able to purchase additional program materials that will be used with the Life Skills program as well as LDACNY’s other employment programs.

JPMorgan Chase
Corporate Challenge

Syracuse
2008

Learning Disabilities Association of Central New York participated in the 2008 JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge on June 24th at Onondaga Lake Park. This is the second year that LDACNY has participated. The race is an annual event and every year JPMorgan Chase makes donations to two not-for-profit organizations in each Corporate Challenge City. The race is the perfect opportunity to get LDACNY’s name involved in the community and for the staff to enjoy some time together outside the office!
